Reporter: How long do you think it will be before your research is put to practical use?

研究者

Researcher: Honestly, I don't know. But saying that gets taken as "unreliable".

記者

Reporter: You avoid being categorical, you mean.

研究者

Researcher: Yes. But since science is spoken in the language of probability to begin with, there is something unreasonable in demanding certainty at all. What is asked of us is not an answer but showing precisely the boundary between what is known and what is not.

記者

Reporter: And only once that boundary is drawn can society choose.

研究者

Researcher: Exactly. Though the reversal tends to occur in which those who state uncertainty frankly are trusted least, and there our own way of explaining bears some responsibility.
