先生（せんせい）、少（すこ）しご相談（そうだん）してもよろしいですか。

Student: Sensei, may I ask your advice for a moment?

はい、どうぞ。

Teacher: Yes, go ahead.

来年（らいねん）、大学院（だいがくいん）に進（すす）みたいと思（おも）っているんですが、まだ迷（まよ）っています。

Student: I'm thinking of going on to graduate school next year, but I'm still unsure.

どうして迷（まよ）っているんですか。

Teacher: Why are you unsure?

日本語（にほんご）の論文（ろんぶん）が書（か）けるかどうか、心配（しんぱい）なんです。

Student: I'm worried about whether I can write papers in Japanese.

心配（しんぱい）しなくてもいいですよ。今（いま）から少（すこ）しずつ練習（れんしゅう）すれば、書（か）けるようになります。

Teacher: There's no need to worry. If you practise a little at a time from now, you'll become able to write them.

本当（ほんとう）ですか。

Student: Really?

ええ。まず、短（みじか）い文章（ぶんしょう）から始（はじ）めたらどうですか。

Teacher: Yes. Why not start with short pieces of writing?

分（わ）かりました。やってみます。

Student: I understand. I'll give it a go.
