食品ロスはどこから出るか

In Japan, several million tonnes of food that could still be eaten is thrown away every year. What is startling is that nearly half of it comes not from restaurants or factories but from households.

Buying too much, cooking too much, and excessive anxiety about dates. When these three overlap, food quietly goes off at the back of the fridge. Simply knowing the difference between a use-by date and a best-before date correctly would cut the amount thrown out considerably.

That said, it is not fair to lay the responsibility on households alone. Selling that encourages bulk buying, and packaging that makes small quantities hard to buy, need to be reconsidered at the same time.
