改めて

自分（じぶん）では、分（わ）かったつもりでいたけど、改（あらた）めて考（かんが）えると分（わ）かんなくなってきた。

I was sure I understood it, but on thinking it over, I realized I didn't know at all.

私（わたし）はあらためて考（かんが）えて気持（きも）ちを変（か）えた。

After thinking about it some more, I changed my mind.

財布（さいふ）をあらためて見（み）たら中（なか）は空（そら）だった。

I examined the purse again, and found it empty.

各（かく）世代（せだい）の人々（ひとびと）は改（あらた）めて自分（じぶん）で過去（かこ）の事実（じじつ）を発見（はっけん）しなければならないだろう。

Each generation would have to rediscover for itself the truths of the past.

改（あらた）めて、日本（にほん）の文化（ぶんか）や歴史（れきし）に触（ふ）れてみるのもいいものだと思（おも）った。

I thought it would be a good idea to get back in touch with Japanese culture and history.
