極地

雪（ゆき）の上（うえ）にも、極地（きょくち）の氷（こおり）の上（うえ）にも、そして熱帯雨林（ねったいうりん）のも住（す）んでいる。

They live on the snow and ice of the Poles and in tropical jungles.

北極熊（ほっきょくぐま）は極地（きょくち）の氷原（ひょうげん）に住（す）んでいるのだが、生息地（せいそくち）を失（うしな）い、絶滅（ぜつめつ）するであろう。

The polar bear, which lives on the polar ice-cap, will lose its home and die out.
