英国（えいこく）本土（ほんど）はウェールズを含（ふく）まない。

England proper does not include Wales.

さて、イングランドとウェールズについてですが、ここがさらに小（ちい）さな地方（ちほう）に分（わ）かれているものと思（おも）ってください。

Now, think about England and Wales, and imagine them divided into smaller parts.

北（きた）にはスコットランド、南（みなみ）にイングランド、西（にし）にウェールズ、そして、さらに西（にし）には北（きた）アイルランド。

In the north, there's Scotland; in the south, England; in the west, Wales; and further west, Northern Ireland.
