芝刈り機

我（わ）が家（いえ）は大（おお）きくなく、敷地（しきち）は３分（さんぷん）の２エーカーである。それを買（か）った頃（ころ）は毎週（まいしゅう）何時間（なんじかん）もかけて芝刈り機（しばかりき）を直（なお）し、芝（しば）を刈（か）った。そうした手順（てじゅん）でいつもやったのである。

The house isn't huge and it's on about two-thirds of an acre, and when we first bought it I spent several hours every week getting the lawnmower fixed and cutting the lawn, in that order.

その間（あいだ）にトニーは６０代（ろくじゅうだい）半（なか）ばになっていたが、まだよく仕事（しごと）ができた。しかし新品（しんぴん）のトラック、新（あたら）しい芝刈り機（しばかりき）、たくさんの装備（そうび）を手に入（てにはい）れ３人（ひと）の手伝（てつだ）いを抱（かか）えていた。

By then Tony was in his middle sixties and still able to work hard, but he had a brand-new truck now, a new mower, a lot of other equipment and three people helping him.

３人（ひと）の男（おとこ）が飛び降（とびお）り、古（ふる）い芝刈り機（しばかりき）をトラックと地面（じめん）にかけた板（いた）で降（お）ろした。

Three men jumped out and rolled the old mower down the ramp from the truck to the ground.
