趣旨

彼（かれ）は私（わたし）に会（あ）えないという趣旨（しゅし）の手紙（てがみ）を私（わたし）によこした。

He sent me a letter saying that he could not see me.

彼（かれ）は愛（あい）していると言（い）う趣旨（しゅし）の手紙（てがみ）を彼女（かのじょ）に書（か）いた。

He wrote her to the effect that he loved her.

彼（かれ）が言（い）った事（こと）はそれと反対（はんたい）の趣旨（しゅし）だった。

What he said was to the contrary.

私（わたし）の申し出（もうしで）に応（おう）じられないという趣旨（しゅし）の手紙（てがみ）を彼（かれ）から受け取（うけと）った。

I received a letter from him to the effect that he could not accept my offer.

医者（いしゃ）は私（わたし）の父（ちち）がまもなくよくなるだろうという趣旨（しゅし）のことを言（い）った。

The doctor spoke to the effect that my father would soon get better.

彼女（かのじょ）は彼（かれ）がすぐに帰（かえ）るという趣旨（しゅし）の手紙（てがみ）を受け取（うけと）った。
