西洋人（せいようじん）は一般（いっぱん）に相手（あいて）が持ち出（もちだ）さない限（かぎ）りそうした話題（わだい）を避（さ）けたがる。

Westerners, in general, prefer to avoid such topics unless the other person brings them up.
