近年（きんねん）では、クエーサーの観測（かんそく）を応用（おうよう）したVLBIと呼（よ）ばれる方法（ほうほう）やGPSによって、プレートの絶対運動（ぜったいうんどう）も理解（りかい）され始（はじ）めている。
