平手

昔（むかし）は、悪（わる）いことをすると、学校（がっこう）の先生（せんせい）から平手（ひらて）をくらったり拳固（げんこ）をもらうことが当たり前（あたりまえ）だった。

In the past it was perfectly normal to get the back of a teacher's hand or fist as punishment.
