商売（しょうばい）をやめるところも多（おお）くなった。しかし浴場（よくじょう）の所有者（しょゆうしゃ）の中（なか）には、客（きゃく）集（あつ）めをねらって、サウナとか運動（うんどう）のための器具（きぐ）など新（あたら）しい設備（せつび）を備（そな）え、施設（しせつ）に改善（かいぜん）を加（くわ）えた者（もの）もあった。

After business came to a halt, many bathhouses added new facilities, such as saunas and exercise equipment, in an effort to attract customers.
