土曜日（どようび）の夜（よる）には家族（かぞく）誰（だれ）もが暖炉（だんろ）の前（まえ）の古（ふる）いブリキのお風呂（ふろ）に次々（つぎつぎ）に入（い）りました。

On Saturday evenings, everyone in the family had a bath one after another in an old tin bath in front of the fire.

月曜日（げつようび）にエヴァンス夫人（ふじん）はブリキの風呂桶（ふろおけ）で全員（ぜんいん）の衣類（いるい）を洗（あら）いました。

Every Monday Mrs. Evans washed all the family's clothes in the tin bath.

するとサルは、小（ちい）さなブリキのコップを持（も）って歩き回（あるきまわ）りました。

Then the monkey went round with a little tin cup.

しかし、サルが戻（もど）っても、ブリキのコップはいつもからっぽでした。

But when the monkey came back, the tin cup was always empty.
