若い者

若い者（わかいもの）が老人（ろうじん）を尊敬（そんけい）するのはきわめて当然（とうぜん）なことである。

Respect of the young for the old is quite natural.

若い者（わかいもの）が、自分（じぶん）の望（のぞ）むような仕事（しごと）もなし、友達（ともだち）もなし ― 彼（かれ）は、本当（ほんとう）に途方に暮（とほうにく）れていた。

That young man can't get the sort of jobs he wants and doesn't have any friends; he's really at a loss.

若い者（わかいもの）が、自分（じぶん）の望（のぞ）むような仕事（しごと）につけないという、ただ、それだけの理由（りゆう）で、ぶらぶらしているとすれば、それはみっともないだろう。

It would be a shame for a young man to be at loose ends just because he can't get the kind of job he wants.
