バプテスマ

人々（ひとびと）は、次々（つぎつぎ）にやってきてバプテスマを受（う）けていた。

And people were constantly coming to be baptized.

しかし、水（みず）でバプテスマを授（さず）けさせるために私（わたし）を遣（つか）わされた方（かた）が、私（わたし）に言（い）われました。

この事（こと）があったのは、ヨルダンの向こう岸（むこうぎし）のベタニヤであって、ヨハネはそこで、バプテスマを授（さず）けていた。

This all happened at Bethany on the other side of Jordan, where John was baptizing.

キリストでもなく、エリヤでもなく、またあの預言者（よげんしゃ）でもないなら、なぜ、あなたはバプテスマを授（さず）けているのですか。

Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?
