And then それから / そして

Meaning

Both connect sentences in sequence. それから = "after that / and then" (time order). そして = "and / and then / and so" (continuation, can be causal).

Notes

Interchangeable in many cases. それから emphasizes TIME ("then, after that"). そして can also mean "and so / thus" (slightly more dramatic or summative). Both can start a sentence.

Examples

I ate breakfast. After that, I went to school.
