And / with と

Meaning

Two uses: (1) connects nouns in a COMPLETE list ("A and B, and nothing else"); (2) "together with" a person/animal.

Formation

[noun] と [noun] / [person] と [verb]

Notes

と makes an exhaustive list. For an open list ("A, B, and so on"), use や.

Examples

りんごとみかんを食（た）べます。

I eat apples and mandarins. (only these two)

友達（ともだち）と行（い）きます。

I go with a friend.
