Direction / destination へ

Meaning

Marks the direction or destination of a movement — "to / toward". Always paired with a motion verb (行く, 来る, 帰る, etc.).

Formation

[place] へ [motion verb]

Notes

Pronounced "e" (not "he"). With motion verbs, へ and に are often interchangeable; へ emphasizes the direction, に the destination.

Examples

日本（にほん）へ行（い）きます。

I go to Japan.
