Meaning

Marks a starting point in place or time — "from ~". Also marks the originator of an action (e.g. received FROM someone).

Formation

Notes

This is から of ORIGIN. The から of REASON ("because") is a separate usage and is taught alongside ので. Often paired with まで ("from ~ to ~").

Examples

I work from 9 o'clock.
