Intention 〜つもり

Meaning

"I intend to ~ / I plan to ~". States a firm plan or intention about one's own actions.

Formation

[verb dictionary form] + つもりです / [verb ない-form] + つもりです (intend NOT to)

Notes

Used to express the speaker's own intention; for asking others it sounds like checking their plan. Negative intention: 〜ないつもりです (intend not to).

Examples

来年（らいねん）日本（にほん）へ行（い）くつもりです。

I intend to go to Japan next year.
