Invitation 〜ませんか

Meaning

A soft invitation — "won't you ~? / would you like to ~?". Politer and less assertive than 〜ましょう.

Formation

[verb stem] + ませんか

Notes

Despite the negative, the meaning is positive — you are inviting, not refusing. Reply 「ええ、〜ましょう」 to accept.
