Possessive / noun modifier の
Meaning
Links two nouns. Many relationships: possession (私の本), location (日本の大学), affiliation (会社の社長), or simply "noun that is ~".
Formation
[noun A] の [noun B]
Notes
When the second noun is understood from context, it can be dropped: これは私のです (This is mine). Chains of の are common: 私の友達の車 (my friend's car).
