Meaning

To do something as a trial / to see what it's like — "try doing ~". Implies attempting something to experience or learn the result.

Formation

Notes

Different from 〜ようとする ("try to do" = make an effort). 〜てみる = actually do it and see. Past tense 〜てみた often with intention to evaluate.
