Very とても

Meaning

Adverb meaning "very / awfully". Strengthens an adjective. Cannot be used with negative adjectives in the standard way (use あまり〜ない for "not very").

Formation

Notes

Synonyms: すごく, たいへん (more formal). For negative: あまり + [adj] + ない ("not very ~"), NOT とても〜ない.
