But / even 〜でも

Meaning

Two uses: (1) a conjunction at sentence start — "but / however"; (2) a particle meaning "even ~ / any ~" after a noun (誰でも "anyone").

Formation

Notes

As a particle, question words + でも make "any": いつでも (anytime), どこでも (anywhere), 誰でも (anyone), 何でも (anything). Don't confuse with そして/それから.

Examples

It's raining. But I'll go. (conjunction)
