Cannot be / no way 〜はずがない

Meaning

Strong denial of possibility — "there's no way ~ / it cannot be that ~ / impossible". The negative of はずだ, but stronger.

Formation

Notes

Stronger than 〜ないかもしれない ("might not"). Expresses the speaker's firm conviction that something is impossible: 彼が嘘をつくはずがない ("there's no way he'd lie").
