na-adjective past / negative でした・じゃなかった

Meaning

na-adjective conjugations use the copula. Past affirmative: でした. Past negative: じゃなかったです / ではありませんでした. Negative: じゃないです / ではありません.

Formation

[na-adj stem] + でした / じゃなかったです / ではありませんでした

Notes

Because na-adjectives conjugate via the copula, the rules are identical to noun conjugation. The な form is ONLY used before a noun.

Examples

昔（むかし）、この町（まち）は静（しず）かでした。

In the past, this town was quiet. (past aff.)
