Want a thing 〜がほしい

Meaning

Expresses the speaker's desire for a THING — "I want ~". The companion to たい (want to DO). Conjugates like an i-adjective.

Formation

[noun] + が + ほしいです

Notes

Describes the speaker's (or someone close's) desire. For 3rd-person desire, use ほしがる. Asking directly 何がほしいですか is fine for gift-giving.
