本日(ほんじつ)はお集(あつ)まりいただき、ありがとうございます。「記憶(きおく)と記録(きろく)」という題(だい)でお話(はなし)しいたしますが、結論(けつろん)を先(さき)に申し上(もうしあ)げますと、両者(りょうしゃ)は補い合(おぎないあ)うものではなく、しばしば互(たが)いを損(そこ)なう関係(かんけい)にあります。記録(きろく)が十分(じゅうぶん)にあるという安心(あんしん)が、記憶(きおく)しようとする努力(どりょく)を静(しず)かに手放(てばな)させてしまう。この点(てん)を、実験(じっけん)の結果(けっか)を交(まじ)えながら見(み)ていきたいと思(おも)います。
Thank you for coming today. I shall be speaking under the title "Memory and Record", and if I may give the conclusion first, the two do not complement one another; they are often in a relationship of mutual harm. The reassurance of having ample records quietly lets us relinquish the effort to remember. I would like to examine this point, drawing on experimental findings.
