Meaning

A wish or a suggestion — "it would be good if ~", "you should just ~".

Formation

[verb たら-form] + いい · [verb ば-form] + いい

Notes

As a wish it often ends 〜たらいいですね ("I hope ~"). As advice it answers a problem: どうしたらいいですか ("what should I do?") → 先生に聞けばいいですよ. Softer than 〜たほうがいい, which implies the alternative is worse.
