May I 〜させてもらう

Meaning

Asks for or acknowledges permission humbly — "let me ~", "I will take the liberty of ~".

Formation

[verb causative て-form] + もらう / いただく

Notes

いただく is the humble form and is the standard business register: 説明させていただきます ("allow me to explain"). It literally says "I receive the favour of being allowed to", so it frames your own action as granted by the listener. 〜させてください is the direct request; this is the softer, more deferential wording.

I will be leaving early today, if I may.
