Meaning

The polite non-past affirmative of verbs — "do / will do / does". Formed from the verb stem + ます.

[verb stem] + ます

Notes

Verb stem = the part before ます (食べます → 食べ). This is the default polite form for general conversation and N5.

Examples

毎日（まいにち）日本語（にほんご）を勉強（べんきょう）します。

I study Japanese every day.
