Get someone to do 〜てもらう / 〜ていただく

Meaning

I GET/RECEIVE someone else to do something (for me). Focuses on the receiver (me) actively obtaining the favor. The doer is marked by に.

Formation

[doer] に + [verb te-form] + もらう / いただく

Notes

Different perspective from くれる: with もらう, the RECEIVER (me) is the topic. With くれる, the DOER is the subject. Polite: 〜ていただく (humble). もらう is the most natural way to express gratitude.

Examples

私（わたし）は友達（ともだち）に写真（しゃしん）を撮（と）ってもらいました。
