Meaning

Names a capacity or role — "as ~", "in the capacity of ~".

Formation

Notes

The noun is a status or function, not a comparison — 医者として働く means "work as a doctor" (he is one). For "like a doctor" without being one, use のように. Before a noun it becomes としての: 教師としての責任.
